We are seeking an Engineering Program Manager who would be responsible for supporting the product development in Japan of our next generation Wireless Charging products to power the global deployment of Electric Vehicles. This role provides program management for highly resonant wireless power systems and products for the automotive market. The role would also support defining the processes and collateral associated with our development process.  This position will be based out of Japan in the Greater Tokyo area, with flexibility on location for the right candidate. Candidates must have the ability to travel internationally for one-month for initial training.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain project plans while driving closure on issues and gaps.
  • Work closely with a cross-functional engineering team consisting of Software, Electrical, Mechanical to understand the technical concepts, architecture, systems, and development methods associated with the defined projects. You will then apply that knowledge to deliverables and leverage it to accelerate project completion.
  • Ability to collaborate and lead full breadth of development cycle, from initial ideation and research through productization and mass production.
  • Partner with international development teams for both research projects as well as NPI development with manufacturing partners.
  • Synthesize and communicate the details of project strategy at multiple levels including executive team, product management, and marketing.
  • Recommend and implement risk mitigation plans while maintaining high quality. Assess risk in programs and recommend solutions to a range of difficult problems.
  • Organize program review meetings with executive management to review execution strategy and project status.
  • Partner with Sales and Business Development with key partners and customers on deliverables and project status.
  • Assist in development of processes by which projects are executed and reported on. Continuously drive team to seek efficiencies by improving processes and tools.

Requirements:

  • BS in an engineering discipline with 5+ years of experience in program management within a product development team.
  • Experience delivering products comprised of software, electrical, and mechanical elements.
  • Experience working with research teams, helping develop concepts, and usher ideas from early stages into readiness for full product development.
  • Strong communication in both Japanese and English, written and verbal.
  • Must have work experience in the Automotive industry (OEM, Tier1, or Tier2)
  • Experience working with customers in a technical environment.
  • PMP certification and Agile experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to track deliverables and dependencies; Identify and report progress, issues, risks, and cost.
  • Must have an execution orientation and a passion for continual process improvement; Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including interactions with remote teams.
  • Occasional flexibility in working hours to collaborate with international teams.
  • Able to influence and bring technical recommendations or requirements across teams in other disciplines and geographic locations.
