WiTricity is seeking an Electrical Engineer as a member of our product team in Japan implementing our next generation Wireless Charging products to power the global deployment of Electric Vehicles. We are seeking innovative, proactive candidates with the ability to support customers in a technical environment and collaborate across various functions including Global R&D, Product Ideation, and external ODM & manufacturing partners. 

This position will be based out of Japan in the Greater Tokyo area, with flexibility on location for the right candidate. Candidates must have the ability to travel internationally for one-month for initial training.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of hardware development through the entire design life cycle including initial concept, functional specification, schematic design, PCB layout, prototype test validation and release to manufacturing.
  • Organize and perform prototyping efforts, direct and coordinate in-house and external prototype fabrication efforts.
  • Responsible for the EE design documentation update, writing test reports and carry out qualification test.
  • Communicate and collaborate with various team members, both verbal and written, on technical issues and provide technical support to customers.
  • Interact and collaborate with the mechanical, software engineering and manufacturing/operations teams throughout the development effort.
  • Support System Test activities and Quality Assurance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ year of experience working in power electronics design and R&D with a high-consumer grade product.
  • Familiar with embedded hardware design and analog circuit design
  • Must have work experience in the Automotive industry (OEM, Tier1, or Tier2)
  • Experience in high-power AC/DC and high frequency SMPS product
  • Knowledge in selection of power devices (IGBT, MOSFET, etc.) and design of magnetic components.
  • Proficient with design for manufacturing, testing, and compliance best practices
  • Familiar with the design principles of vehicle charging piles, and have experience in schematic design, PCB layout, PFC product, EMC and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication in both Japanese and English, written and verbal.
  • Experience working with customers in a technical environment.
  • Experience working within a smaller, global tech company preferred.
